Newsletter special edition – FP7 "Ocean of tomorrow" call for proposals
The European Commission recently launched (published on CORDIS on the 20th July 2010) a joint call concerning excellence in marine and maritime research, and in particular, an improved integration between all the relevant scientific disciplines needed to address complex sea-related issues in the framework of the EU maritime policy.
The Ocean of Tomorrow call cuts across various activity themes:
- Food
- Agriculture and Fisheries
- Biotechnology
- Energy
- Transport (including aeronautics)
- Environment (including climate change)
The call will be implemented through four topics:
- Multi-use offshore platforms. (€14 million)
- Marine microbial diversity. (€9 million)
- Assessing and predicting the combined effects of natural and human-made pressures in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea in view of their better governanance. (€13 million)
- Knowledge-base and tools for regional networks of marine protected areas, integrated management of activities together with assessment of wind energy potential in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. (€9 million)
