Reinforcement of audits under FP7

The European Commission's Directorates General with responsibilities for research have decided to adjust and reinforce their audit strategy in order to detect and correct any errors in cost claims submitted for FP6 and FP7 projects. The number of audits and participants audited will increase significantly and any type of organisation could potentially be the subject of such an audit.

The certification policy for FP7 Grant Agreements has also been designed with an aim to 'fix the future' by focusing on the preventive ex-ante verification. The policy is intended to detect and correct the most common errors identified throughout FP6 audits at the earliest possible stage.

To enable beneficiairies better to understand the audit processing and to avoid at the earliest stage mistakes in the legal and financial management of EU research contrats, Interface Europe launches a new training module "Audits and Checks" which will supply information needed as well as provide a methodology to cope with controls operated by the European Commission.

The next course is to be organised on 2 April in Paris in Franch and on 9 July 2009 in Brussels in English:
